Sunday morning confession

Had a nice jog this morning - 4 miles around the track in 39:44. Tracked so specifically with my new jogging watch! I entered the numbers into my spreadsheet and that pace - a little under a 10 minute mile, and that seems right. I think some of my earlier numbers might be off, and I feel compelled to point it out!

You know how a track has 6 lanes? Well, when I first started running I think I was sticking to the inside lane. And if you go around that 4 times, it's not really a mile. It's a much shorter distance than if you went around the 6th lane 4 times - which would be more than a mile.

So the last two times I've stayed strictly in the middle lane.

Whew, I feel better for getting that off my chest.

GUSTAV!

So we woke up yesterday morning and discovered that Beaumont Texas had mandated an emergency evacuation. All of Barbara's peeps are from there. Barbara's sisters and sister in law drove up late yesterday...apparently just before the traffic jams started. Since we will have an overflow crowd at our house, I made a reservation for a room at the Como Motel in Richardson. rooms are probably around $35 per night. Keith, I hope you and Debbie will be comfortable there. I asked for a non smoking room which I know you would prefer. BTW, I'll need to get instructions on how to work the TV remote your master Bedroom. There are some good College games on the next couple of days. Also,do you have a wireless internet signal at you house? Barbara and I may be there for a while. I'll call you when you can move back in. Let me know how the Hotel...er... Motel is. Not that I'd ever want to stay there.

Way more than 50!

Is it too early to for me to change the key on my totals sheet?

Here's the deal. Came up with the key that walking 18 equates to 50 points. Well, today I walked a course that was wwwaaayyyy more than 50 points!

Walked the course at Quantico Marine base, and let me tell you - this course was made for Marines to walk, and not mere mortals! I swear, I think I walked UPHILL for 18 straight holes! There was never any downhill!
Was dumb enough to walk the dogs 40 minutes before the sun came up and we headed to Quantico. I think I could have used that energy. Finished up the day with 25 push ups.

Turkey Trot Anyone?

After our talk about the Turkey Trot yesterday and the question of 3 miles versus 8 miles, I just had to know. So I ran 8 miles today in 1:14:12. So it is decided, definitely 3 miles on Thanksgiving. OMG! I am hurting! Don't know why I can't just keep my big mouth shut, Hahaha! Everything was just fine, but No! I have to keep pushing it. Just had to say it! You knew it was coming but no one wanted or needed to hear it: "8 miles, not too far for me!" I should be shot! Can somebody call a surgeon, I need my lips sewed together!

She's Back!

Well, today was another spin day, this time at the club this a.m. for 42 min. Also did 30 pushups and 10 min. of flexibility. **After I got home today I did several backflips with 3 double twists.** Thinking of throwing in a few extra pushups, or I could, like Maureen, just start fresh again tomorrow...yep, think I'll do that. It was pretty hot here today, wish I could be in Colorado tomorrow and do this!

A new day, indeed

Started the day running through sprinklers in the rain, but I'm not sure how to count that on my totals. Also not sure how to count the driving range, if at all. Came up with the key of walking 18 counting as 50 points, and driving a cart 18 counting as 25 points. But what about whacking the craziness out of 100 golf balls? Can I count it as 7.5? No particular reason. I mean, it's not like 7.5 is what I'm short of my goal today. It's just a random number that I think would a be a good representation of working on my 6 handicap. (oops. Working towards my 6 handicap.)

I could also get down and do 30 more push ups to get my 7.5 points.

Oh, heck, who am I kidding? No way can I get down and do 30 more push ups. So instead I'll just ignore the 7.5 points, and think about starting fresh tomorrow. A second glass of wine should help that...

Toast!

Finally got back to running at a decent time of the day instead of after 10pm. Did my speed day yesterday with 3 miles in 23:51. Was a disappointment since I was tying for 4 miles in under 32 minutes, but when I got to three I was toast. Toast with massive amounts of peanut butter, crunchy peanut butter, double layered peanut butter. In fact, it felt like I had a case of peanut butter and 412 toasted bagels in a back pack on my back the way I was running. It felt like the last 5k I ran with Scott, when I had to pull him in a little red wagon the last mile with him crying like a little girl. Brutal! But HEY!, today is a new day!
