Wrestle Mania???

5K in the books for the day in 27:09. Then hit the weight. Did double sets on arms since my arms are half what they should be. Using the same logic, I only have to do half a set on abdomen! (We can work on reciprocal numbers and fractions later, for those of you who didn't get that one, Scott!) Then I was on to the steam room. Love the steam room cause when I come out of about 15 minutes in 120 degree steam it is my only REAL chance to "Look Hot!". So you take what you can get. Okay, Scott, I am gonna say something mean about you everyday until you post to the blog. Each day it will get more and more personal. Day One: Scott used to wrestle with a neighbor in their underwear between their house and I did the same. The problem was my wrestling buddy was named Pam, his was named Mike!!! Maybe you should post now, Scott!!!

Another day at the gym...then a buffet

Made it to the gym this a.m. for 20 minutes on the treadmill, 45 minutes of lower body weights and 10 minutes of flexibility. Good way to start the day. And, THEN, Scott and just ended the day with a great evening with Keith & Debbie at a piano concert and a buffet, including dessert. (But let me clarify, Keith did not have dessert!). Pretty late now, so it actually might be "too early for me tomorrow morning" to be back on the workout circuit...will go early evening instead after I get home from work. Later...

A long run!

I had a great run this morning. According to Google Pedometer, I got in 6.84 miles in 61 minutes!

It's amazing how that works with running. Some days you have it, and some days you just don't! I wish I could figure out what the magic formula is. It makes me nervous committing to things like the American Odyssey. What if that's one of my days?

I went to bed last night hoping for a good run today. It was a high of 60 degrees yesterday, and we were supposed to flirt with 70 today. And when I got up and on the road, I knew immediately that I could do a long run.

Of course, I think I've counter-acted the good effects of the run throughout the rest of the day. I feel like I've eaten 10,000 calories!

Look out Scale!

Way to go Barbara and Maureen. You guys are keeping us together. Love the idea of the second shot at the new year. I am ready. Less than two months till the 10K and less than three months till the American Odyssy. It is going to be a great spring. A little under the weather this weekend so I am using that as an excuse. However, tomorrow I start again in earnest. Look out scale, you are gonna think I am somebody else.

Back on the Blog

Had #'s from last week in January, but already moved calendar to February. Gotta get back on here more often...it's been crazy but that's no excuse!! Anyway, this week Feb 1st did 30 min elliptical, 20 minutes lower weights and 10 min flexibility. Feb 3rd 11 minutes treadmill to warm up, 30 minutes upper weights and 10 minutes flexibility. Yesterday, February 6th, I did 15 minutes of lower body strength. Today, February 7th I was ramping up (in my mind...and the body will follow, right?) for spring outdoor cycling by doing a spin class for 55 minutes. After that I did 10 minutes of flexibility. Been working most of the day today and tomorrow's another work day, too. But....my plan is to go to the club tomorrow a.m. to get ready for a big day. Tonight is fun with Keith & Debbie at a Bavarian Grill Tomorrow night is fun with Keith & Debbie listening to piano and eating a buffet dinner...that's right a buffet dinner. It's a good life!! I BETTER work out tomorrow a.m.! Oh yeah, and the Capitol 10K is right around the corner!

Pushing it

Got Curves in this morning, but it was a complete mental game! Still tired from the trip to Dallas (SO disappointed I didn't get to see you, Barbara!), and my body just wanted to be in bed. But, that's what this blog is all about!

Chinese New Year?

Not sure our New Year's Resolutions worked out so well for this group!

I can only speak for myself, of course. And it wasn't my body that was speaking this morning, it was the scale. And it was screaming loud and clear, "whoa! girl! whatchu been eatin'!?!"
But, we all get a second chance! This Friday is the CHINESE NEW YEAR! It's like a "get out of jail free" card! We get another attempt at New Year's Resolutions!
So my workout goals stand - the push ups, the running (another month, another 10k!), the walking the dog.
But I gotta get a handle on this eating thing! The scale just can't take it! So after the celebrations for the second New Year (you gotta have celebrations on the New Year, right?), it's back on track for all of us!

I've had better ideas!

The first attempt at a training regimen is in the books. Here was the idea. Run some distance, maybe a 5k, in the morning, run another in the evening and then a third the next morning. That would be three runs in roughly 24 hours totaling about 10 miles. A perfect test for the American Odyssey. The Odyssey will be a bit further, maybe 13 to 14 miles during the 24 hours but this would be a good test.

Not a problem. I finished with flying colors. I did 3.1 miles, then 4.0 miles and then 3.3 miles. So 10.4 miles in 24 hours in three separate runs separated by about 11 hours each. Perfect Test! The best news is that my weight should continue to fall since I am too sore to get out of bed and eat. My legs are in complete rebellion. My lower back has started calling me names. My feet and calves won't even talk to me at all. And I am not sure what it means, but I my right knee just had a free consultation with a family law attorney specializing in divorce.

So there you go. Nice test, but it appears that neither this test nor the Odyssey itself can claim to be one of my better ideas.

Good Morning!

Let the training begin. All my friends were awake and waiting on me to say good morning. Including Albert here who leaned down and whispered to me, "Not too early for me!" Good way to start the day and the week. I hope everyone else gets some exercise in today. Its gonna be a great week.

On Your Mark

Back in DC and ready to visit Lincoln again. Didn't get a run in today but I just finished a great walk in the cold. Got in late tonight and didn't have the energy to do the run but walked instead. Did extra push ups today to try and compensate. Seems like I am always compensating for something.

90 days till the American Odyssey Relay Run. The training starts tomorrow. On your mark. Get Set. GOOOOOOOO!!!!!
