I've had better ideas!

The first attempt at a training regimen is in the books. Here was the idea. Run some distance, maybe a 5k, in the morning, run another in the evening and then a third the next morning. That would be three runs in roughly 24 hours totaling about 10 miles. A perfect test for the American Odyssey. The Odyssey will be a bit further, maybe 13 to 14 miles during the 24 hours but this would be a good test.

Not a problem. I finished with flying colors. I did 3.1 miles, then 4.0 miles and then 3.3 miles. So 10.4 miles in 24 hours in three separate runs separated by about 11 hours each. Perfect Test! The best news is that my weight should continue to fall since I am too sore to get out of bed and eat. My legs are in complete rebellion. My lower back has started calling me names. My feet and calves won't even talk to me at all. And I am not sure what it means, but I my right knee just had a free consultation with a family law attorney specializing in divorce.

So there you go. Nice test, but it appears that neither this test nor the Odyssey itself can claim to be one of my better ideas.

Good Morning!

Let the training begin. All my friends were awake and waiting on me to say good morning. Including Albert here who leaned down and whispered to me, "Not too early for me!" Good way to start the day and the week. I hope everyone else gets some exercise in today. Its gonna be a great week.

On Your Mark

Back in DC and ready to visit Lincoln again. Didn't get a run in today but I just finished a great walk in the cold. Got in late tonight and didn't have the energy to do the run but walked instead. Did extra push ups today to try and compensate. Seems like I am always compensating for something.

90 days till the American Odyssey Relay Run. The training starts tomorrow. On your mark. Get Set. GOOOOOOOO!!!!!

A break

I kind of took a break today. Still got the push ups in and a walk with the dog. But I bailed on Curves this morning. I had an AWESOME run last night, 6.5 miles! And my body this morning was a wee bit tired. So I decided to listen to my body and lay in bed until almost 9 am! Tomorrow, I'll work out harder tomorrow...

Leftovers

Got in a jog today, which felt good. Really should have gone longer, though, because I've been pigging out on leftovers tonight! Pizza! Salad! Pecan pie!

But, hey, no more dress to worry about fitting into!

Yesterday

Back to the club for 20 min elliptical, 15 min upper strength and 10 min of flexibility. Nothing yet today...boo hoo. Tomorrow's looking better for a another workout.

Walkin' the Mall

View of the Lincoln Memorial from close to the Washington Monument today during the inauguration! I'm sure Keith will have much funnier and poetic things to say about the day, but I am frankly way too tired to think of anything! Just wanted to post that we walked 6.2 miles today!

If I work out and no one else does...

Do I really look better, or does everyone else just look worse?

COME ON, PEOPLE!!

What happened to the New Year's Resolutions???

Where is everyone?

So much for our all-out push at the start of the new year!!

I've been very lax the past few days, and I'm trying to blame it on travel. But that's really no excuse! I've got a ball gown to fit into in FOUR DAYS - I really need to get back on this horse!

What about everyone else? Please tell me you've been more dedicated than me???
